About Us
Elora Community Theatre has been producing plays continuously since January of 1973. When it began, it was likely the only village in Southern Ontario to have a community theatre group, and certainly Elora was one of the smallest communities to support its own amateur thespians.
In the early 1980s, Elora Community Theatre began a long relationship with the disused Grand Theatre in Fergus, and helped return this former movie house to a place of prominence in the community.
Elora Community Theatre was the first group to make physical improvements to the building's auditorium, and the first group to perform in the building in 1981. ECT has performed over 75 plays at "The Grand" and remains one of the principal users of the building.
